What is Pre-Authorisation?
When you add a payment method and request a trip with us, a pre-authorisation hold, a common banking procedure, temporarily holds money. This enables the bank to verify that your payment method is legitimate and that you have enough money on hand. All businesses that take digital payments do this on a regular basis.Your bank has temporarily charged your card the projected fare in order to verify that we may withdraw funds from the credit or debit card associated with your Big O Taxis account.
Has the money been taken from my account?
Your credit card is not being charged by Big O Taxis.
Pre-authorisations are simply used as a security guarantee for payments; your account is not actually debited.
What is the duration of the pre-authorisation hold?
The period required for the pre-authorisation hold to be released from your account varies based on your specific bank and will typically take 3-5 working days. We suggest you to check with your bank if you want to know when the hold will be released.
What does a pre-authorisation hold cost?
Based on the passenger’s destination, Big O Taxis will pre-authorise the projected fare amount on the customer’s payment card before a hail request is carried out.
Does the pre-authorisation hold cover credit and debit cards equally?
Both credit and debit cards are subject to the pre-authorisation hold.
